Top Tips for Getting the Most From Your Classes
Consistency beats intensity. You don’t need to go all-out every session (you absolutely can if you want) Showing up regularly, learning gradually, and building habits is what creates real progress, physically and mentally.
Focus on learning, not perfection. Kickboxing is a skill. Nobody expects you (or your child) to get it right straight away. Progress comes from repetition, patience, and encouragement.
Speak up — we’re here for you. If something feels uncomfortable, confusing, or challenging, let an instructor know. Classes are adaptable, and support is always available.
Compare less, notice more. Everyone’s journey looks different. What matters is how you’re improving compared to last week, not what anyone else is doing.
Enjoy the process. Yes, you’ll work hard — but kickboxing should also be fun, empowering, and energising. Confidence grows fastest when people enjoy what they’re doing.
What Makes Our Community Different
One of the things our students and parents mention most isn’t just the training — it’s the environment.
Our classes are built around:
Respect and encouragement
Structure and clear expectations
Support from instructors and fellow students
Celebrating effort and progress, not comparison
For juniors, this includes life skills development, where lessons like courage, kindness, compassion, and goal-setting are reinforced alongside physical training.
For teens and ladies, it means training in a space that feels welcoming, motivating, and empowering — not intimidating.
People train hard here, but they also:
Encourage each other
Celebrate milestones
Learn to believe in themselves
That sense of belonging matters just as much as the punches and kicks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any experience before starting?
No. Our classes are designed for beginners through to experienced students. Everything is taught step by step.
Do I need to be fit before joining?
Definitely not. Fitness is built in class. You don’t need to “get fit first” — that’s what training is for. Just keep showing up and progress will come
Is it safe for kids and teens?
Yes. All classes are structured, supervised, and age-appropriate. There is no sparring, and drills are controlled and coached carefully.
Are the teen and junior classes mixed gender?
Yes, teens and juniors train in mixed-gender classes. Respect, control, and teamwork are core values we reinforce throughout training
What if my child is shy or lacks confidence?
That’s very common — and often why parents choose kickboxing. Our structured environment helps students build confidence gradually, without pressure.
What if there’s an injury or limitation?
Training can always be adapted. Instructors encourage students to listen to their bodies and train smart so they can keep progressing safely.
How long is each class?
Each class runs for an hour. Be sure to arrive a few minutes before class starts, and your welcome to stay a little after to get to know the other students.
What happens if we arrive late?
That's not a problem at all, you or your child can still join in safely. Make sure to get your body warmed up before jumping straight in. Your instructor will be able to help and guide you.
Do I need to come with a partner in order to join?
Not at all. Most of our students come by themselves. We will get you paired up with someone once we get going
What if we miss a week?
Life happens - sickness, holiday, work, etc. We want your progress to continue so you can make up your missed session at one of our other locations. This way your able to keep up your progress even though you missed a session
I’m uncoordinated, have no balance, don’t know my left from right… and I’m probably too old. Is kickboxing really for me?
Yes — and this is far more common than people realise.
Coordination, balance, and body awareness aren’t things you’re expected to arrive with. They’re skills that are built through training. Most people who now move confidently once started exactly where you are.
Classes are taught step by step, with plenty of repetition and clear guidance. Left and right confusion is normal, balance improves quickly, and confidence grows with practice — not pressure.
As for age, there’s no “too old” to start. Kickboxing adapts to you, not the other way around. Progress is personal, and improvement happens at your pace.
You don’t need to be coordinated, confident, or fit to begin. You become those things by showing up.
If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please ask. We’d much rather talk things through than have you guessing.
